I have secured full time work so while I settle in, I will be taking a break. On my return I will be running a ticket system to manage orders one at a time. More details will follow when I have juggled my new life in to place.

Take care and stay safe, Hannah.

  1. Nostalgia Nerd

As I glanced up from my Expo table, I spotted the Zool and was immediately drawn toward it.

The quality of the seams, the detail of the face, the colours so perfectly matched to the real Zool, I knew I had to have one. In fact, this… could it be… the REAL Zool?

I bought one. I took it home, and then it came alive. It spoke to me. Asked me for pizza, and then took me into an enchanted land of sweets and chuppa-chupp lollies.

This was an experience, that was alone, worth the asking price.

Quality, Zool like and experience. That is all you need to take away from this.

I’ve collected official plush versions of my favourite video game characters for a lifetime, but there are still several who haven’t gotten such merchandise yet (mostly British ones who were famous back in the day but who’ve since unfortunately been overshadowed, like Dizzy, James Pond as RoboCod, Superfrog, and Plok, all of whom I still hope to see official versions of in the future). When I stumbled across Sew 8-bit whilst searching for gaming-related items, I absolutely lost it to see that Zool now has an official plush, and I rushed to order him right away.

Considering that these guys are individually made to order, the gremlin-ninja from another dimension arrived at my home in a very short span of time. He’s bigger than he looks thanks to his long limbs (and he looks suitably 90s-attitudinal with his arms folded), and his features are all on-point – no mean feat considering that the shape and positioning of Zool’s head and face is pretty inconsistent across the various sprites and images from the games, books, and official artwork!

Zool hasn’t requested a burger, chips, and beans yet (which, according to the two official novels, is his favourite meal), but he was considerate enough to bring a couple of Mini Chupa Chups with him when he turned up at my door! This was an excellent touch which absolutely made my day – and would surely make the day of anyone who fondly remembers Zool’s Chupa Chups-packed games enough to be tracking down an official plush almost 30 years after his debut.

I feel that Sew 8-bit’s Zool is well-made and well worth the money, and I’m absolutely thrilled to have been able to add a much-wanted hero of old to my collection. The construction and sewing are both great, and he looks right at home alongside his other plushified gaming peers. The estimated timeframe for him to be made and sent was completely accurate, too. I hope to see more officially-licensed plushes like this in the future – keep up the great work!
